Mid Water Meter Thefts
Over the last two weeks and at an accelerating rate, Madera Irrigation District has experienced a total of 22 delivery meter thefts. The district and the Madera County Sherriff's Department believe the thieves intend to sell the meters to scrap metal dealers. While the locations have been scattered most of the thefts have occurred west of Highway 99 and south of Avenue 12 in the area generally around the communities of Ripperdan and La Vina.
The District is now offering a $1,000 Reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the involved parties.
